Stacking mana regen

[:1]Soooo how viable is stacking regen at 85? At 70, you didn't wind up taking away from potential spellpower by heaps since gems were much smaller stats and reforging didn't exist. But, now that there are so many things that count as variables, does making regen your primary or secondary gimp you in the long run? Has anyone tried it?
