[:1]This is to all of the experienced players willing to share advice and guidance.
What is the best way for me to learn the fights? Either 5 mans or raids.
On most pug raids I find the prerequisite "Post Achieve” or “Must Know Fights!”
On the 5 mans I run into dps screaming “Gogogo” or “Hurry keep going!”. Then I have to take time to explain “Hey fellas I don’t know the fights and I want to make sure we don’t wipe”
I have changed my bear spec to kitty cause I was sick of the lets hurry and rush through attitude of players.
I am not in a great raiding guild and I hope to change that. Right now the guild I am in is 4-5 active members (3 of them pvp only) so looking to them for help is pretty much pointless.
Any advice you can offer is greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Que
If the Dps don't want to explain things to you just tell them "Hey, my queue is shorter than yours." There are videos of all the heroic bosses and a lot from Druid Tank Povs. Just ignore people who are idiots. Unfortunately they are out there.
Well, if you really want to learn the fights,,you can just read up on them on www.wowwiki.com. It displays videos, tactics, and spells that the boss uses. To find the boss, you either type in the boss' name or the instance it's in, and go from there. And once you learn the fights, you can always get RobBossMods to explain the fights to PuGs should they not know. It's really handy imo.
Just don't heal it, you'll learn the boss fights like anyone else but trash? I honestly couldn't even describe how many targets are in each pull let alone what they do or which one should die first. I'm too busy watching all the crazy LSD-inspired graphics going on under people's feet and laughing my ass off that I'm apparently high myself because no one else seems to see them!
www.tankspot.com or www.warcraftmovies.com will have various videos for raid encounters. You can use www.wowhead.com to check the instance, which will have a boss list. Each boss will be linked to specific info about their abilities, and that page will have comments about how to do the fight.
I believe 4.2 includes an in-game encounter explanation tool as well.
If you're a tank and something goes wrong, pop cooldowns to live, do what you need to do to keep your healer alive, and let dps die. Next time they'll be more interested in responding to a player who has the decency to admit he doesn't know something and the desire to fix it.
